Founded in the early 1960’s, AFTNC is the nation’s oldest professional association devoted to promoting family therapy. Our goal is to advance the theory and practice of family therapy while fostering collegial relationships among family therapists. Our multi-disciplinary, multicultural membership includes MFTs, psychologists, psychiatrists, LCSWs, LPCCs, and graduate students from a variety of fields.
AFTNC is a group of experienced mental health and social service professionals committed to providing quality services to families, couples, and individuals in private and public settings. We emphasize the value of specific training in couple and family therapy skills, and theories developed specifically for working with relationship systems. As part of this mission, we make an effort to offer low-cost or free training in conjoint therapy techniques at workshops throughout the year. We also put on an annual conference, featuring cutting-edge presentations from top couple and family therapists.
