This year we will be meeting in person at the Alliant International University in the East Bay for our annual membership meeting and will also host the event via Zoom for those who can‘t make it in person. There will be food, drinks, and a great chance to catch up with old colleagues and meet new ones! We will discuss the plans for the next year, and help non-members to learn about AFTNC membership. This annual meeting is an opportunity for Family Therapy and Couples Therapy teachers to gather and share syllabi, discuss approaches to teaching family therapy, discuss videos and other teaching aids used in teaching couples and family therapy, and provide support and mentoring for meeting the challenges of teaching. We’ll be discussing experiences shifting to online classes, classes coming back in person, and numerous other topics such as cultural competency and social justice in teaching family and couples therapy. This meeting is also open to those aspiring to teach family therapy, and to those who no longer teach family therapy, but would like to support current and future family and couples therapy teachers.
